The British Railways Southern Region was created in 1948 and survived until the mid 1980s, when British Rail were forced into organizing themselves as business sectors. The Southern Region's London stations included Victoria, Charing Cross, London Bridge, and Waterloo although the region extended as far as Guildford, Reading and Southampton.
